Energetic Particles Associated with a Coronal Mass Ejection Shock Interacting with a Convected Magnetic Structure

چکیده
On 2020 November 30, Parker Solar Probe (PSP) was crossed by a coronal mass ejection (CME)-driven shock, which we suggest also crossing convected, isolated magnetic structure (MS) at about the same time. By analyzing PSP/FIELDS field measurements, find that leading edge of MS coincided with while its trailing edge, identified as current sheet, overtook PSP 7 minutes later. Prior to arrival flux 30 keV–3 MeV ions and electrons, measured PSP/Integrated Science Investigation Sun (ISOIS)/Energetic Particle Instrument (EPI-Lo), increased gradually, peaking time shock passage. However, during downstream energetic-ion dropped dramatically, before recovering MS. Afterwards, ion fluxes remained approximately constant within sheath region CME shock. We interpret this depletion energetic result insufficient accelerate particles MS, given moves along surface owing advection solar wind. present results from quantitative numerical model interaction an idealized supports interpretation.

A spectroscopic study of coronal dimming associated with a coronal mass ejection
Extreme ultraviolet spectroscopic observations of one coronal mass ejection event are used to examine the onset phase of the eruption. We find significant dimming of million K plasmas in the low corona under the ascending CME, the activation of an adjacent prominence and 2 million K ‘hot spots’ which may be associated with the CME footpoints. In particular, we show that the dimming is due to a ...
متن کاملForward-reverse Shock Pairs Associated with Coronal Mass Ejections
For some coronal mass ejections (CMEs), their interaction with the ambient solar wind can produce a forward-reverse shock pair. The high-speed mass ejecta compresses the plasma near the top of the CME on both sides of the tangential discontinuity which separates the CME plasma from the ambient solar wind plasma. The front of the compressed CME plasma propagates in the reverse direction relative...
متن کاملMulti-wavelength Signatures of Magnetic Reconnection of a Flare Associated Coronal Mass Ejection
The evolution of an X2.7 solar flare, that occurred in a complex βγδ magnetic configuration region on 2003 November 3, is discussed utilizing a multiwavelength data set. The Hα images taken from the solar tower telescope at ARIES, Nainital, reveal well-defined footpoint (FP) and loop-top (LT) sources. As the flare evolves, the LT source moves upward and the separation between the two FP sources...
متن کاملYohkoh Sxt Observations of X-ray “dimming” Associated with a Halo Coronal Mass Ejection
A sudden depletion or intensity “dimming” of the X-ray corona sometimes accompanies a solar eruptive flare or coronal mass ejection (CME). We have identified a dimming that occurred just prior to a “halo” CME, observed on 1997 April 7 using the Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) on Yohkoh. Halo CMEs are prime candidates for “space weather” effects. The dimming occurred in compact regions near a flare o...
متن کاملSoho Eit Observations of Extreme-ultraviolet “dimming” Associated with a Halo Coronal Mass Ejection
A solar flare was observed on 1997 April 7 with the Soft X-ray Telescope (SXT) on Yohkoh. The flare was associated with a “halo” coronal mass ejection (CME). The flaring region showed areas of reduced soft X-ray (SXR) brightness—“dimmings”—that developed prior to the CME observed in white light and persisted for several hours following the CME. The most prominent dimming regions were located ne...
